Parents and young people across the country are organizing to change the norms around phones, social media and AI. Many of these groups have local chapters you can join or start.

Delay pledges

  • Wait Until 8th: A pledge for parents to wait until at least 8th grade before giving a smartphone.
  • OK to Delay: A parent-led movement with local chapters helping families delay smartphones.
  • Smartphone-Free Childhood US: Connects parents who want to delay smartphones together, so no family goes it alone.

  • Mothers Against Media Addiction (MAMA): A grassroots movement with chapters nationwide, educating parents and pushing for phone-free schools and safer tech.
  • ParentsTogether: A national parent-led organization campaigning for safer technology for kids.

Families turning loss into action

  • The Adam Raine Foundation: Founded by Adam Raine's family to educate teens and parents about the risks of AI companions, and to support families who have lost a teen to suicide.
  • Buckets Over Bullying: Founded by Rose and Rob Bronstein in memory of their son Nate, to prevent cyberbullying through education and advocacy.
  • David's Legacy Foundation: Founded in memory of David Molak to end cyberbullying.
  • Becca Schmill Foundation: Founded in memory of Becca Schmill to protect young people from online harms.
  • Alexander Neville Foundation: Founded in memory of Alexander Neville to educate families about fentanyl and the dangers of drugs sold online.

  • Encode AI: Young people advocating for laws that make AI safe and accountable.
  • Design It For Us: A youth-led coalition pushing for safer tech and an end to harmful business models.
  • Young People's Alliance: A bipartisan, youth-led group active on social media and AI safety laws, with campus chapters in 16 states.
  • Reconnect Movement: Student-started phone-free clubs for high schools, colleges and communities.
