The Screenagers Project is our online membership platform for schools and other orgs serving youth, giving year-round access to our movies, curriculum and resources.
Typically schools where year-round access allows for usage across screenings, classroom, faculty etc. But other use cases exist, so please inquire so we can understand your needs in greater detail.

How do schools or hosts typically fund their screenings or memberships?
Schools and hosts have funded their screenings in a wide variety of ways. On inquiry a member of our team can share common examples, along with information on relevant federal and state funding programs that many hosts have successfully used.
What ages are the different movies appropriate for?
We encourage parents and children to watch together at community events to spark healthy discussions. General recommendations:
- Screenagers: Growing Up in the Digital Age — Middle school and up (Grade 6+); some elementary schools show it at Grades 4–5.
- Screenagers: Elementary School Edition — Elementary school (Grades K–5).
- Screenagers: Next Chapter — Middle school and up (Grade 6+).
- Screenagers: Under the Influence — Middle school and up (Grade 6+).

I just want to watch the movie at home. Why isn’t it on Netflix, Prime, etc.?
The Screenagers movies aren’t available for on-demand or online streaming at home.
We make our films to be shown at in-person community screenings, such as those held at schools and other local organizations.

What support do you provide to help us promote and run our screening?
Every screening license or membership includes ready-to-use promotional materials such as flyers and social media graphics to help spread the word and maximize attendance.
If you would like, we can also list your event on our Screenings page so your community can easily find and share it.
Additionally, you’ll receive facilitator and discussion guides, plus audience handouts and links to related resources.
How do screenings usually run — what does a typical event look like?
Every community is different, but most events follow a simple format: brief introductions, the film screening, and then a discussion or Q&A.
Many hosts invite a counselor, teacher, or local expert to join the discussion, which helps create an engaging and meaningful experience.
What kind of venue do I need to host a screening?
You only need a space large enough to fit your audience, along with appropriate screening equipment (projector, large display, or cinema screen). Most hosts use school gyms or auditoriums, churches, community centers, or library meeting spaces. Some work with a local school theater or commercial cinema.
Who facilitates post-film discussions at a screening?
We highly recommend holding a post-film discussion immediately following the movie. Most organizers choose someone from their own community to moderate, using our facilitator guide that includes film facts and suggested discussion questions. Some hosts invite a panel of local experts to answer audience questions.
The filmmakers, Dr. Delaney Ruston & Lisa Tabb, are also available to book for a fee to lead the discussion and answer questions at your event.
Can I charge for tickets to my event?
Yes. You can set any ticket price or offer free admission.
We've found around $5-10 to be most successful and many hosts run the screening for free and then invite donations.
Do the films come with subtitles?
Yes. We offer many subtitle language options.
Please let us know your requirements during the booking process.
How much lead time do we need between booking and hosting a screening?
We recommend a minimum of three to four weeks to allow time for you publicize your event with your community.
But no problem if you need to host sooner, just let us know and our team will accommodate.
For memberships, access to The Screenagers Project platform is available once payment is confirmed.
Can we organize multiple screening events or obtain multiple memberships for our school district?
Yes. We offer reduced rates for multiple screening licenses or memberships purchased together. Please inquire for more details on pricing.
How many times can we show the movie(s) with a one-time license?
A one-time license covers a single community screening for an audience size suitable for your venue.
Can we use one membership to show the movie at multiple schools or invite other schools to our screenings?
No. Membership to The Screenagers Project is offered on a one-school-per-membership basis. You’ll need a membership for each school.
School screenings should be for the students and parents or guardians of that one school and should take place at their school site or another venue under their control.
What is the difference between the full versions and the student versions?
The student versions remove parenting advice sections, focusing on youth perspectives—ideal for classroom use. However, we recommend screening the full version for parents and students together. Hearing from other adults in the community often leads to stronger understanding and more balanced discussion.
The student versions are included alongside the full versions as standard as part of membership and are available on request for One-Time License purchases.
We are an organization that serves multiple schools or communities. What options are available?
